Moonshine

So December has been kind of an amazing month for us.

Our New Moon Rap has received 46,587 views on YouTube as of writing this and should hit 50,000 by the weekend. That's incredible. Based on the number of views we've received, YouTube offered us revenue sharing on the video. So somewhere down the line we might actually make some money off the video!

After writing the Star Trek Rap back in May, we realized that these kinds of videos had the potential to go viral and we always hoped with each one that it would find its audience and it seems like this one has. With every new movie-themed rap we reached out to fan sites, blogs, and online communities in the hopes of achieving that connection, but all our attempts seemed futile. Things seemed to be going similarly with New Moon until Amanda Bell at the Twilight Examiner wrote a brief but very complimentary article about the video and included the video with her piece.

That was ground zero for everything that came after. It was fascinating to watch the ripples of awareness move outward from that one point. Soon fans were talking about it on Twitter and Facebook and it got posted to a few other Twilight sites including TwiCrack Addict, Team-Twilight, and the Twilight Guide. Thousands of views and hundreds of comments later it seems like we succeeded in crafting a loving send-up and tribute to the Twilight franchise and its fans.

But that's not all! On December 4th the team behind Twinprov opened the doors on their newest venture, OKC Improv, Oklahoma's first ongoing showcase for improv comedy and theater. That debut show featured every metro-area improv troupe and was enough of a success that we solidified our partnership with the ever-awesome Ghostlight Theatre Club to host a 7-week run of shows starting on January 16! We're super excited to be doing our part to grow the Oklahoma Improv scene and look forward to sharing the stage with best improvisers from around the state! For more information on OKC Improv shows and to see who's performing every week, check out the website.

During December we also confirmed 2010 performance dates in Austin and Kansas City and are looking at other dates in Dallas and Tulsa for the spring, which is just the beginning of what will hopefully be many out-of-state shows to come. 2009 was an amazing year for Twinprov and 2010 is looking even more so. Thanks to all of our fans, friends, and families for your support as we make one crazy dream after another a reality!
