TWINPROV TO PERFORM LAUDED PARENTS SHOW AT OKC IMPROV THIS WEEK
In her rave review of our January 16th show, Elizabeth Hurd of The Oklahoman declared "OKC Improv puts Oklahoma City on the map for comedy, stand-up or ROTFLOL (rolling on the floor laughing out loud)."
This week's 8pm show includes the OKC Improv All-Stars, a comedy super-troupe with a rotating cast made up of Oklahoma's most talented improvisers followed by the short-form improv of Ham Wallet from Stillwater.
At 10pm, OKC's own dynamic duo of comedy, Twinprov, return to the OKC Improv stage accompanied by musician Stephanie Bidelspach to perform their widely praised Parents Show in which twin brothers Buck and Clint Vrazel introduce audiences to their parents through sketches, stories, and improv often in character as their parents.
"For some families, mental illness is a tragedy. For the Vrazels, it's a family tradition," said Buck Vrazel.
When talking about the importance of parents Clint Vrazel said that "Parents are our first gods." As for influence, Clint added that "Dad made us charming; Mom made us bearable."
This is only the second time that The Parents Show has been performed in its entirety and features brand new material never before seen on stage.
Twinprov will be followed by the jazzy relationship-driven comedy of The Ones Your Mother Warned You About that The Oklahoman's Elizabeth Hurd said "appeals to a sophisticated... audience" that balances "zaniness with superb expression and movement..."
OKC Improv's current run continues every Saturday night through February 27 with two shows each night at 8pm and 10pm at at Ghostlight Theatre Club (3110 N. Walker, OKC) and will feature a variety of improv acts from across the state along with the occasional special guest.
Other acts scheduled to perform during the remainder of the run include OKC's Everybody and Their Dog, The OKC Improv All-Stars, The Ones Your Mother Warned You About, and Twinprov, Norman's O.U. Improv, comedian Brad Porter, and magician William Rader. The current run will close out on February 27 with a very special one night only performance of Villain: The Musical, a completely improvised musical told from the villain's point-of-view.
According to Janet Patterson of The Edmond Sun, "Ghostlight Theatre Club’s intimate atmosphere, with its small stage and cash bar, is a perfect setting for the unabashed adult entertainment OKC Improv provides. It’s affordable, interactive and an interesting alternative to traditional scripted theater."
Tickets are $10 each. Reservations are encouraged and can be made via E-Mail at okcimprov@gmail.com or by calling 405.343.1570. For more information go to www.okcimprov.com.
