ADULT CLASSES
Buck and Clint teach regularly reoccurring sessions of improv classes for adults at OKC Improv.
The next session will begin Dec 31 and end Feb 4th at Ghostlight Theatre Club (3110 N Walker, OKC). The first class attended is free. $10 for each additional class. To enroll call (405) 343-1570 or E-Mail okcimprov@gmail.com.
Students will have the opportunity to perform a live graduation show after each level (according to attendance and/or instructor permission).
Level 1 Improv Class: Just beginning or want some more practice with the fundamentals? Want to be more creative and expressive or learn to generate ideas on the spot? This class is for you. Level 1 introduces you to improv skills in an open, supportive class structure. Buck and Clint will guide you through the basics, dissolve your nervousness, and help you see the joy and opportunity in every moment. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in the Level 1 show on February 4. The show, called Other People’s Kids, is a hilarious mixture of short-form games and less structured scenes.
Level 2 Improv Class: By popular demand, we’ve designed a long form for Level 2 with a focus on relationships, character development, emotional investment, and status. If you’re looking to move from games to sustainable scenes, for an introduction to long-form, or a solid refresher on improv acting, this is for you. Join us in producing Strangers, a show about serendipity and the random encounters that can change our lives. Strangers is inspired by the show Chairs, performed at the iO Theater in Chicago.
Level 3 Improv Class: In Level 3, you’ll be part of the world premiere of a new long-form called ZOOM! Take your mime, edits, perspective, and physical comedy to the next level with this mind-bending original project inspired by the likes of Mr. Bean, cartoons, and The Matrix. Bend and master time, space, and physics to play like your kid self with the skill of an adult. Wanna be part of an awesome form created from the ground up? This class is for you.
You can find out more and information about the adult classes on the OKC Improv website here.
CHILDREN'S CLASSES
Buck and Clint also teach classes for kids and teens throughout the year. Enrollment is now open for their FUNdamentals of Improv class (for 5th-8th Grade) at The Sooner Theatre in Norman! Classes start January 9 with an Spring performance for friends and family.
The Vrazels will take students through the basics of improvisational performance including environment building, character creation, and storytelling. Students will also learn about different kinds of improv structures, warm-ups, and stage etiquette with the possibility of branching out into musical improv, time permitting. Improv can build confidence, develop communication skills, and give actors an indispensable tool set for creating richer characters, more engaging scene work, and stronger partnerships with other actors.
